Introduction

Wingmom ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Wingmom platform and services, including Maia, our event coordination assistant who works by text message. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services.

By using Wingmom, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please do not use our services.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when using our services, including:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, and phone number
  • Account Information: Login credentials and profile preferences
  • Event Information: Event details, dates, times, and locations you create or join
  • Communication Data: Text messages exchanged with Maia

Phone Number Collection and Use

Your phone number is collected when you sign up for Wingmom or join an event. We use your phone number to:

  • Send text messages related to events you create or join
  • Send reminders about upcoming events
  • Facilitate coordination between event organizers and guests
  • Send one-time verification codes for authentication

Guests never see each other's phone numbers. A guest's number is shown only to the host of the event they joined, and a host's number is not shown to her guests. Maia does the texting, so people can plan together without swapping numbers.

Automatically Collected Information

When you access our website, we may automatically collect:

  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • IP address and general location data
  • Usage data (pages visited, time spent on site)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies

SMS/Text Messaging Terms

By providing your phone number and using Wingmom, you expressly consent to receive text messages from us. These messages may include:

  • Event invitations and coordination messages from Maia
  • RSVP confirmations and availability requests
  • Event reminders and updates
  • Authentication codes for account verification
  • Service notifications related to your account

Maia sends most of her texts over iMessage. Login codes and replies to our waitlist come as regular SMS from a separate Wingmom number, and a text may also go by SMS when iMessage is not available. Replying STOP or HELP works the same way on both.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your event activity. You may receive multiple messages when actively coordinating events. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan.

Opting Out of SMS Messages

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any message from Wingmom
  • Contacting us at support@joinwingmom.com

After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive SMS messages from us. Note that opting out may limit your ability to use certain features of the service that rely on SMS communication.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our services
  • Facilitate event creation, coordination, and communication
  • Send text messages for event-related purposes
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve our services
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information in the following situations:

  • Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf:
    • Photon delivers our iMessage texts through Apple's iMessage service. It receives your phone number and the texts sent between you and Maia.
    • Quo (OpenPhone) delivers our SMS texts, including login codes. It receives your phone number and those texts.
    • Anthropic provides the Claude AI models that read your texts and write Maia's replies. It receives the texts you send Maia, earlier messages in the same conversation, and the event details, guest names and answers Maia needs to reply. For hosts, it also receives the profile details Maia uses to plan, such as your name, phone number, town and your kids' ages.
    • TypeSafe provides an AI check that compares some of Maia's texts with the event details before they go out, and helps work out which event a text is about. It receives the text being checked or the text you sent Maia, a few recent messages from the same conversation, the event details, and guests' first names and answers.
    • Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in. It stores your account, event and message information.
    • Vercel hosts our website and servers, so every request to Wingmom passes through it.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale, or acquisition, your information may be transferred.
  • With Your Consent: We may share information with your explicit consent.

Our website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google when you open a page.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of SMS communications
